Limitless Living

And Then I Cried…

This is my third attempt at beginning this post, because I simply can’t figure out how to do it. I’ve decided then (like any good writer) to begin where I am. Where I am is overwhelmed. I just watched Eve Ensler talk at Ted about Girls, and I cried. I cried with tears and pain and hurt that just welled up from so deep inside of me I’m not even sure they were my tears, my pain, or my hurt. I think they may have been the tears of the raped girls, the beaten girls, the girls who are worth less than four cows, a calf, and a blanket.

I cried, but part of me wanted to stand up and scream and yell and wail. Another wanted to comfort, to hold, and value. And yet another wanted her own podium – as if two of us saying the same speech, chanting the same words, could double the power with which they circle the world.

I watched the video and a still small voice inside of me, spoke to the part of me crying. It said, “This is who I am. This is why I’m here. This was my lesson to learn and it is the lesson I will breathe out my last breath teaching.” This is why I find myself pulled and prodded to say something. This is what I want my audience (whomever they may be; maybe you?), and every woman around the world to hear.

I won’t say it the same way Eve does. I won’t talk to the same people she does. I won’t have the same emphasis, or the same message, or the same technique – but the heart of our messages will be the same. She and I, and all the other women who join us (and the men too, because there are men speaking this truth too) our voices will echo each other until the volume and the vibration of the echo grow and grow and finally break free, and shake loose what isn’t working now. Because I honestly believe that the heart of this video is the heart of God right now; hidden inside the Girl’s Heart is the answer to save the world from ourselves. I’m sure of it.

Have you heard it? Have you seen it? You have to. You, you woman, you girl, you Diva, you Goddess, you broken jar, you need to watch this video. You need to watch it and let it make you cry; let it empower you; let it make you angry; or even doubtful. You need to let it heal you, and then together maybe we can ask: What now?

Watch it. Pass it on. Call me and we can rail and rant and cry together…

Yours,
Megan

Megan this was so powerful. I’ve watched other Ted talks with Eve Ensler before…this one really rocked. I used to facilitate a girl empowerment group…and some of those young women still stay in touch with me. I’ll post this link onto my facebook page. Wow! Thank you.

I saw this video recently and it, too, had me in total tears–the good kind, the hard kind–all of it. Beautiful!

Ladies,

Thank you so much for your comments! I didn’t post this to get anyone’s attention; I posted it to be true to myself. But I’m honoured that it was able to reach so many others and mean just as much to you as it did to me. I’m even more honoured that you took the time to tell me it meant something to you. Your comments have been really touching and encouraging to me this week!

Now I can’t wait to hear what you do to take it to the next level in your own lives (I shared it, and am contemplating getting clearer on what I do for and how I help inspire women… what are you doing?).

Yours,
Megan
